A Little About Half Moon Cay
Half Moon Cay is an idyllic castaway island in the Bahamas with a white sandy beach lapped by calm clear beautiful blue waters. Privately owned by the Carnival Corporation, this port of call is exclusively used by cruises that include this heavenly hideaway on their itinerary.
Formerly known as Little San Salvador Island, this laid-back island covers 2400 acres (less than 4 square miles) and much of it has been left as a nature preserve with native vegetation for nesting birds and wildlife.
Currently cruisers are transported ashore in tenders, but a new deep-water dock is planned for the near future. Once ashore, expect to enjoy a beautiful day on the beach with plenty of activities for watersports, boat trips, swimming, snorkeling and relaxing in the sun.
We last visited this port in August 2021. While we were there, we did some shopping, enjoyed the water & the beach, Eat the free BBQ offered, and kayaked.
Because this is a beach port, you can of course enjoy the beach, some shopping, Watersports & games. You can also enjoy a massage or get your hair braided. Children can enjoy the pirate themed kid play area which includes a pirate ship. There is even a chapel if you plan on getting married while in Half Moon.
Half Moon Cay offers Cabanas for a price to be enjoyed as well so you can have your own private space.
Free food is offered complimentary of Carnival and includes a nice island BBQ. There also a few places to eat that charge you as well that you can enjoy.
