Photo Credit: Cruising Writers Free Beaches In Cozumel If you are looking for a nice free beach to spend the day at in Mexico, I have a few for you. However, most Cozumel beaches are not pretty. Cruisers imagine white sandy beaches with miles of powder-white shoreline. However, this is not the case at every beach Cozumel has to offer as a majority of the island's coastline is rocky. Only a few small sections offer the tropical beach experience  Cozumel beaches on west coast of Cozumel (the side facing Mexico) has much calmer water. This allows it to be protected thus allowing coral to thrive.  However, the east side (the side facing the Gulf of Mexico) has much larger waves and stronger currents. These strong currents make it worse for snorkeling and swimming. However, this side of the island has much smaller crowds than you'll find on the west side and closer to the cruise port. It is the largest island in Mexico and one of the most popular cruise ship ports in the Caribbean. During the height of the season between November to April as many as 8 cruise ships dock almost every day. Our Rating: ***** (5 Stars) A Little About Mr. Sancho's Mr. Sancho’s Beach Club is located on the south side of the island, only 15 minutes’ drive from the main cruise piers and 20 minutes’ drive from downtown Cozumel, offering something for every taste. At this facility you will find beach activities such as kayaks, snorkel, water sports, tables with umbrellas, romantic cabanas, freshwater showers, lockers, hammocks, two pools, each one with a swim up bar, & of course the beach. Our Experience We last visited Mr. Sancho's in January 2022. This was also or first time visiting. Mr. Sancho's is a beach club that gives free all you can eat food, drink, & alcoholic drinks.
