What Is A Muster Drill?

If this is your first time cruising you may be wondering What is a Muster Drill?

A muster drill sometimes referred to as a boat drill or lifeboat drill is an exercise that is conducted by the crew prior to the ship leaving port. A muster drill prepares passengers for safe evacuation, in the event of an emergency on board the ship, and familiarizes the crew and the passengers with escape routes. During the muster drill, passengers are show how to use a life jacket, where to go in the event of an emergency, and what exactly needs to be done to evacuate the ship if needed. Once you check in to your muster station, a staff member will check you off so that the cruise line will know who has completed the drill or not before they can set sail.

Muster Drills are mandatory on all Cruise ships and for all Passengers. Most average approximately 30 minutes or less.

How to Find your Muster Station?

On Carnival, you can find your assigned muster station printed on your boarding pass, sign & sail Card (or Room Key).
